Volunteering at Fairgate Farm

Our volunteers are what makes Fairgate Farm the special community that it is. We gladly accept anyone who is willing to “get their hands dirty” regardless of gardening experience. All ages are welcome, we just ask for children under middle school be accompanied by an adult.

Upon your first visit, we’ll happily show you around the farm so that you can get the lay of the land. On future visits, plan on jumping right into a wide range of farming tasks including watering, weeding, planting, harvesting and more! Please visit are FAQ for more info.

While we are regularly at the Farm Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday mornings during the growing season, occasional schedule conflicts or inclement weather can occur. We encourage you to schedule your volunteer times with us so that we know you’re coming, especially if it’s your first time. To do so, please reach out to Farmer Liz by email at ewimpfheimer@charteroakcommunities.org or call/text her at

There are many different reasons to volunteer at the Farm. First, volunteers are always welcome to take their fair share of the harvest! The Farm is also a great place to come with friends to fulfill school service hours. Many people just want to give back to their community, and volunteering at the Farm represents their way to help feed a neighbor in need. Yet, others may be looking to reconnect with nature, make a friend, or strengthen connections with their community. These hours are also for just visiting the farm to enjoy this green space.

Each year over 2,600 volunteer hours are logged from individuals, corporations, schools and community groups.
